Flood-Frequency Analysis for Dams in Romania

Accurately determining the maximum designed water discharges of dams is extremely important, considering economic costs carrying out these types hydrotechnical works and possible disastrous consequences resulting from their incorrect design. This article describes applies probability distributions used in hydrology, with some recommended by Romanian legislation standard NP 129-2011. The methods for estimating parameters presented this article, as well establishment directions correlating normative international regulations, research on many rivers different characteristics, conducted within Faculty Hydrotechnics, were completed specialized computer applications applying normative. In two case studies reflecting are presented. verification proposed recommendations, hydrographic basins physiographic confirmed opportunity to implement rigorous simple criteria. presentation quantile form (especially Pearson III) expressions moments (central raw) high order, frequency factors each analyzed distribution necessary calculate confidence interval, constitute novelties, thus facilitating ease use distributions.
